Stashr vs Edge Collections

Microsoft Collections let you group web pages, images, and notes inside Edge, until version 149 removed it for everyone on June 4, 2026. Even users who exported kept only their links: the images, notes, and annotations were discarded. Stashr keeps a permanent copy of what you save, so a browser update can never quietly take it away.

What happened to Edge Collections

Microsoft removed Collections in Edge version 149, released June 4, 2026, after winding it down across earlier versions. When you migrate, you can move pages to Favorites or export a list, but only the links are kept. The images, notes, and annotations inside your collections are discarded.

A browser update took Collections away. Stashr keeps its own permanent copy of everything you save, separate from any one browser, so the next update or feature cut cannot reach it.

Common questions

The verdict

Collections was a handy way to group pages while you researched, and if you only ever needed Favorites you may not miss it. The way it ended is the cautionary part: Microsoft removed it in a routine browser update, and the migration kept only your links while your images, notes, and annotations were thrown away. Stashr keeps its own permanent copy of everything you save, separate from any browser, and captures new saves automatically across X, Reddit, Instagram, and TikTok. If you would rather your saved library not depend on one vendor's roadmap, Stashr is the safer home.
