What Stashr saves from Hacker News

Hacker News favorites are one long list per user. There are no tags, no search, and no way to find the comment you saved last spring except scrolling. Stashr captures each story and comment the moment you favorite it and files a copy in your library, with the same AI tagging and plain-English search as every other save.

For a story, Stashr keeps the title, the link and site it points to, who posted it and when, and its points and comment count when it was saved. Ask HN and Show HN posts keep their text. For a comment, Stashr keeps the full comment and the story it was posted on. Un-favorite something and Stashr removes it from your library to match.

What gets captured

Favorite stories

Any story you favorite, with its title, link, site, author, points, and comment count, kept as one searchable card.

Favorite comments

The full text of a comment you favorite, code blocks and links included, with the story it was posted on.

Ask HN & Show HN

Text posts keep their body, so the question or the launch post is searchable, not just its title.

How saving from Hacker News works

Favorite the way you already do. Stashr handles the rest in the background.

1. Turn it on, then favorite

Click Turn on in the extension once and allow access to Hacker News. After that, open a story or a comment and click favorite, exactly like you do now.

2. Stashr grabs it

The moment you favorite, the extension reads the story or comment straight from the page. The click goes through as normal.

3. It lands in your library

Your copy is filed and searchable in plain English, right next to everything else you've saved. Turn on AI tagging and it's tagged in your own words too.

Bring your Hacker News favorites over

Already have years of favorites? Run a one-time import from the extension and Stashr walks your favorite stories and favorite comments and files each one as the same searchable copy.

It paces itself to stay polite to Hacker News, runs in the background while you keep reading, and never changes your favorites on HN.

Why people use it

Hacker News makes it easy to favorite something. It does nothing to help you find it again.

Favorites you can actually search

HN search covers the whole site, not your favorites. In Stashr every favorite is searchable by what it's about, so "that comment about Postgres vacuum tuning" finds it.

Comments, not just links

The best part of HN is often a comment. Stashr keeps the whole thing with the story it was on, so the insight survives without the thread.

One library for everything

Your favorites sit alongside your GitHub stars and what you keep from X, Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and any web page you save, all searchable from one place.

Nothing new to do

You favorite on Hacker News exactly as you always have. Stashr just makes each one organized and searchable.
