Plug your Kindle into a computer with a USB cable. It shows up as a drive, and the file lives in the documents folder as My Clippings.txt. Copy it to your computer, then drop it here.
No. The file is read with the FileReader API and parsed in your browser. Stashr never uploads, stores, or logs your highlights.
Every time you extend or redo a highlight, Kindle adds a new entry and keeps the old one. The parser drops any highlight whose text is fully inside a longer highlight at an overlapping location in the same book, so you only keep the final version.
My Clippings.txt only covers highlights made on the Kindle device itself, not the Kindle phone or desktop apps. Publishers can also cap how much of a book you can clip. When that limit is hit, Kindle writes a placeholder instead of your text, and the parser skips it.
Yes. Titles, authors, and highlight text work in any language. Page numbers, locations, and dates are read best-effort for English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese, and more. If a date can't be read, the highlight is still kept.
Yes. Pick one book and download it as Markdown for a single note per book, or export all books into one file. Highlights are block quotes with your notes and locations right below them.
