Frequently asked questions
How duplicate detection works, what gets normalized, and why the tool is read-only.
The finder uses the same browser bookmark parser as the converter, so Chrome, Edge, Brave, Firefox, and Safari bookmark HTML exports are the target format.
URLs are grouped after normalizing protocol and host case, removing hash fragments, stripping common tracking parameters like utm_source, fbclid, gclid, mc_cid, and mc_eid, and trimming trailing slashes from non-root paths. Meaningful query parameters are preserved.
No. It is intentionally read-only. It shows where duplicates live and exports a CSV report, but it does not rewrite your browser bookmark file or delete anything.
Open the CSV in a spreadsheet, sort by normalized URL, and decide which copy to keep. Then delete the rest inside your browser's bookmark manager. The folder column tells you exactly where each duplicate lives so you can find it fast.
No. The file is read locally with FileReader and parsed in your browser with DOMParser. The duplicate scan runs on your device.
Some query parameters identify real pages, filters, dashboards, or app state. The tool removes common tracking noise but avoids collapsing everything with a query string into the same URL.
