Saving from Instagram

Save a post, Reel, or carousel on Instagram and Stashr captures it, copying images before their links expire.

Stashr watches Instagram's native Save button, the bookmark icon. Save a post on Instagram and it lands in your Stashr library.

Saving a post

  1. Tap the Save button

Click Instagram's Save (bookmark) icon. This works in the feed, on post pages, on the profile grid, and on Reels.

  2. Or save into a collection

Saving into one of your Instagram collections from the hover flyout is captured too.

  3. Look for the confirmation

A small "Stashed" tooltip appears for a second. If the capture failed, it says "Failed" in red; the post is still saved on Instagram either way.

  4. Find it in your library

The post appears in your bookmarks. If AI tagging is on, tags follow shortly after.

Unsaving on Instagram removes the post from Stashr too. The tooltip shows "Unstashed" to confirm.

What gets captured

  • The caption.
  • The author.
  • Photos, stored by Stashr.
  • Carousels, with every item saved.
  • Reels and videos: the cover image only, with a link back to the original for playback. The video file is never stored.

Why storing matters here

Instagram's image links expire quickly. Stashr copies the files at save time, so your saved images keep working long after Instagram's links go dead.

Importing your Instagram saves

Press Import on the Instagram row in the extension popup. Stashr uses an Instagram tab, or opens one, and fetches your Saved posts through Instagram's own requests. There is no scrolling needed. You must be logged in to Instagram.

Rate limits

Rate limits are handled automatically. Large saved collections just take a little longer.
