Saving from X (Twitter)
Bookmark a post on X and Stashr captures it, including polls, quote posts, and full articles.
Stashr watches X's own bookmark button. There is nothing new to learn: bookmark a post on X and it lands in your Stashr library.
Saving a post
Bookmark the post on X
Click the bookmark icon under any post, on the timeline or on the post's own page.
Look for the confirmation
A small "Stashed" tooltip appears above the button for a second. If the capture failed, it says "Failed" in red; the post is still bookmarked on X either way.
Find it in your library
The post appears in your bookmarks with its text, photos, and author. If AI tagging is on, tags follow shortly after.
Removing a bookmark on X unsaves it in Stashr too. The tooltip shows "Unstashed" to confirm.
What gets captured
- Text and formatting, including mentions, hashtags, and links.
- Photos, stored by Stashr so they survive the original being deleted.
- Polls, frozen as they stood at capture time. Per-option percentages and the vote total are kept when X was showing them; an open poll you have not voted in may hide its counts until it closes.
- Quote posts: the quoted post is embedded inside your bookmark, including its media.
- Reposts are dereferenced: if you bookmark a repost, Stashr saves the original post rather than the repost stub.
- Articles (X's long-form posts): Stashr saves the cover and preview immediately, then fetches the full article body in a follow-up pass, so long reads arrive complete.
Videos and GIFs are not stored as files. Stashr links back to the original post to watch them and shows the video's poster frame, which is loaded from X and can stop working if the post is removed. Link preview cards and Spaces are not captured either. The full breakdown is in What gets saved.
Importing your X bookmarks
The extension can pull in your entire existing bookmark backlog:
- Open the extension popup and press Import on the Twitter / X row.
- Stashr opens a background tab on X's bookmarks page and pages through your bookmarks using X's own requests. No scrolling, and you can keep using the browser.
- If you use X's bookmark folders, Stashr also tries to pull in the posts saved inside them, not just your main bookmarks list. This is best-effort: if folder discovery fails, the import still completes for your main bookmarks. Stashr imports the saved posts themselves, so the folder structure is not recreated in your library.
You need to be logged in to X in the same browser. Progress, pausing, and resuming are covered in Importing your saves.
If X rate-limits the import, Stashr waits about a minute and continues on its own. Large bookmark collections can take a little while; the popup shows a live count as it scans.
